My dad's computer seems to be slightly... messed up. None of the users are showing up on the welcome screen, and when you press Ctrl-Alt-Del twice to bring up the manual username/password typing window, you can't log into my Dad's account, can't log into my account, BUT you can log into my mom's account and my brother's account. I think something got corrupt somewhere along the lines.
__________________Anyway, I'm trying to back up all the files so I can do a reinstall of XP, but I can only back up my mom's, brother's and my files. My dad's user files, unfortunately, are "protected", some sorta User Accounts setting. We can't even get into the folder where he put his stuff. Anyone know a way to get around this? Thanks! Nick

ctrl+alt+del twice. user: Administrator - no password. see if that works. if not...
download a ubuntu linux livecd. boot to it, and then procede by reading: http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/mountwindows and back them up that way. Let me know if this helps, or if you need any more info.

safemode might work also and if you do a windows repair that fixes it sometimes the user acounts stay you can copy the data back over.
