I believe that is because the actual file that is allocated as the pagefil is still there even when you tell the OS not to use it. There is a complicated way of booting up dos and deleting the original file that was allocated. I'm not sure it is worth it though.

Windows will ALWAYS create a pagefile of sorts no matter what you select in advanced properties. In actual fact, a Windows OS cant run w/o one...

Even if you have 4GB of ram you should never disable a page file. Should leave it at around 1024MB minimum.
There are alot of programs, including windows, that are programmed to use part of the page file instead of ram.

Open up the defragmenter. If there are any green areas, then that's your page file, so it's still there. Otherwise, I think that's just your 3GB of memory.

If a program is coded to use the page file, then it will run much slower if the page file is disabled.. it will still run, it will just run slower.
You should NOT disable the page file in windows. Quote:
If you did a quick google, you would see that it is bad. If you don't wanna believe me thats your problem, have fun with the problems it will cause in the long run. Even with 4GB of memory you should not disable the page file. Both Windows XP and Vista are coded to have a page file and disabling it can have negative effects.

Leave the pagefile on indeed. Photoshop for example needs one.
And I do agree that this is the actual physical memory the DXDIAG tool displays. It's probably a bit confused since it doesn't find a pagefile.

http://www.overclock.net/operating-s...ging-file.html I already found 1 link and 1 link from OCN saying it's alright to disable pagefileing. maybe it does slow down apps but all the programs I use are not slow with it disabled
