I have been seeing threads about people getting Vista Home Premium. I have already made my decision while ago to get this for my new build. I was just wondering what is the read perpose of the 64-bit. Last time when I had windows XP x64 on a computer, I could not get anything to work properly. I had to get alot of new programs in 64-bit versions. Is is really worth getting x64 for my new gaming build. Will games work properly like Bioshock or Crysis?

Games is not what you would have problems with. x64 makes gaming better. You can access more RAM and get better use out of multithreaded applications. Both bioshock and crysis take advantage of multiple cores.
What you should be worried about is drivers. Not everything has drivers for x64 and that is where you could run into some problems

If you can, you should go 64bit. Its more secure as well as better performance - it has a randomized kernel.

Drivers could indeed be problematic, but driver support for Vista 64-bit is a lot better than that for XP 64-bit. If you have the usual hardware, you should be fine.

Yes, all new drivers will come in both 32bit and 64bit.
Vista 64 is not even comparable to XP 64 Vista 64 has nearly ALL drivers for most common hardware now. There are only a few things that are not compatible with it. Just make sure ALL your hardware has 64bit drivers before you go 64bit (mainly your soundcard) All in all you should go 64bit, driver support is really strong and will only get better. And it also leaves you future proof.

So what's the advantage if you're just running a 32-bit game anyways?
