Default Whats in beta Service Pack (KB936330) i'm curious

Well, I'm a little bored its late.. No work for a couple of days. Obviously trouble is afoot.

I've acquired the sp1 beta and figure I'll have a play and see what it effects.
My vista 64 is running great apart from a problem I'm having with winrar taking for ever and I've not been able to master resolve that issue yet.

There are four parts to SP1 so far and this is just one which includes 133 modifications to the following.

Quote:
Service Pack for Microsoft Windows (KB936330) contains 133 individual packages and is by far the biggest of the updates, so will probably be the service pack as we think of it. It is applied to the following Vista components:

* AxInstallService
* Backup
* BLB Client
* Branding Ultimate Client
* BRCpl Basic/Premium/Pro & BRCpl Basic/Premium/Pro Language Pack
* Capture Wizard
* Client Features
* ClipsInTheLibrary
* CodecPack Basic Encoder/Package
* Desktop Manager
* DFSR Client Edition
* Disk Diagnosis
* Fax Client (for all versions of Vista)
* Foundation
* Group Policy Client Extensions / Client Tools
* Help Core Client
* IIS WebServer AddOn (38 packages are devoted to this component)
* IIS WebServer (another 18 packages for this component)
* Indexing Service
* Media Center / Media Format / Media Player
* MobilePC Basic/Premium/SideShow
* MovieMaker
* MSMQ Client
* NetFx3 OC
* NFS Client
* Offline Files
* Optical Media
* Parental Controls
* Peer-to-Peer AdHoc Meetings / Full
* Photo Basic/Premium
* Previous Versions
* Printing Foundation / Printing Premium Tools / Printing XP Services
* RDC (Remote Desktop Connection)
* RecDisc
* Remote Assistance
* Removable Storage Management
* Secure Startup
* ServicingBaseline (for all versions of Windows)
* Shell Inbox Games / Premium Inbox Games
* Simple TCP
* SNMP Package
* SUA (Subsystem for UNIX Applications)
* System Restore
* TabletPC OC
* Telnet Client / Telnet Server
* Terminal Services Command Line Tools / Misc Redirection / USB Redirector / WM Provider
* Windows Foundation Language Packs
* WMI SNMP Provider
* WMP Network Sharing Service
* MSSSVC Rules (for all versions of Vista)
* Server Help (for all versions of Vista)

Ok everything seem to install ok, It took longer than I expected. 5mins unpackaing and the 20mins rebooting and updating at the log-on screen, With a serious message. like you were flashing something.

Here are the version pics for people that need them..

Prior

After

Prior

after

I'm not really a benching freak so didn't know the best ones to try.

here are a few from Everest.

CPUandrel Before/After

A little less than 3%.

CPU Queen Before/After

Just about 3%, little bit of a pattern?

memory Read Before/After

8855 MB/s

hardly any difference at all here.

Memory Write Before/After

Again a little over 3%

HD Tach Before/After (72gb raptor raid0)

Very similar. Although burst was a little up from 190 > 205MB/s

Winrar test Before/After

OpenGl Fur Test Before/After

And the one most will want to know.. the dated 3DMark 06

50Pts, betting I'm lucky it's not gone down.

Overall, No great difference between the current Vista performance and these Beta patches. Obviously these are deemed for future use and by then there will also be maturation of motherboard and GPU drivers.

I also ran COH (Direct x10) and HL2 Lost coast at max res/max setting, but the Avg FPS was just within 1-2 so I didnt bother posting.

That was addressed by a recent hotfix I think, Although I didnt notice problems myself to be honest.
