I knew I was going to dual boot when I bought my new system and had read an article like that how to set one up, so I made sure to create the 2 equal partitions before I loaded xp. Just received my Vista Home Premium x64 and installed in the other partition and all is working perfect, didn't have to worry about resizing or anything which was nice, and all went well and sure enough it gives me an option on boot-up which OS to use. No issues so far, but then again I've only had it loaded for about 20 minutes now

Currently have a triple-boot, and will probably make it a quad-boot rig

OS1: XP
OS2: Vista Home Premium 32-bit
OS3: Server 2008 Beta 3
OS4: Linux (currently an empty partition)

Gonna be fun.

I installed them in the order as mentioned above, and now I get a boot loader with three options: 1) older version of Windows (which is XP); 2) Server 2007; 3) Vista

Now, time to compare a whole lot of benchmarks between those 3 OS-es

This guide is for those members who have system with XP or Vista preinstalled (especially can’t effort to reinstall all applications due to licenses etc issues) in one primary partition on one single hard drive. If you have two hard drives, plan on new fresh format and installation or one single hard drive with two primary partitions, you don’t need to follow this guide.

Great guide. I plan on installing Vista x64 with a small partition for Windows XP for legacy programs.

I have vista ultimate installed and I did the partition like the guide says. but when I boot up to load XP It does not see that partition for some reason. I even reformated that partition a second time, hoping it would see it then but did not. What am I doing wrong? But thanks for the guide it was helpful none the less.
