Every time I boot I have to use the diagnostic tool to get it to connect. I always click the "Obtain IP Address Automatically" option, it connects no problem and works fine but every time I restart I have to go through it. Anybody know what is causing the problem? Drivers are up to date.

Check Event Viewer for chronic errors. Also what is your AV software, and are the definitions up-to-date ?

Haven't installed AV yet, I literally just installed Vista today. I suspect that it is simply a preference somewhere that I can't find because it works fine once I tell it to fix the problem.
