Default invalid os

my friend called me cause when his computer was not booting and would get that error normally it refres to a diskette in the floppy drive i know this is not the problem he has no floppy. so i checked in his bios not reconizing the hd. i was cause it was it had a full ms install on it. so i put another hd in ti formated it installed windows (thats when i left) he went to install his mobo drivers got to the second driver to install and had to reboot and got the same error. any suggestion on how to fix it. i dont know if it is still registering in bios sence i have not been to his/her house after the fres install

Can he install windows again on that drive u gave him and before installing any drivers, bar ethernet, get to the MSI site for a more recent mobo bios and flash it to see if it helps? Winflash FTW!!!

make sure the floppy is off in the bios.

disable floppy in bios, also check to make sure all the cables are secure. maybe the hdd cable is loose in the mb?

Post #1 says 2 20gb HDDs. Make sure drive letters are not inverted for these drives.

i did he/she installed the mobo drivers and got the error again

its not the drive letters i only have 1 20g hd in 1 was the dead one and the other is the working one that in the pc now the dead one was removed

basicly i changed the defective hd reinstalled the os he installed the mobo drivers and got the same error and there is no bios updates for the mobo

Did you try another cable?
Are the jumpers set properly?
WD IDE need no jumper for a single HDD, but do require Master/Slave set for two drives.
