Recieved this text from OP via PM, and am posting it here hoping others may be able to assist.

Laptops may be different than desktops, but assuming they are the same, my guess is that the .EXE file on the drivers download page from the link you posted needs to be copied to the hard drive (you can put it in a folder on the desktop) and then run. Meaning double-clicked. The .EXE files DO something; they are not just data to be referenced by something else. Try that, see what happens and report. Also, from the sub-section of the directions I posted, it appears that your case fits the one described where the ethernet controller card is found by XP, but is listed in "Other Devices". You stated that one of the yellow-flagged devices was an ethernet controller and it is in "Other Devices". This would explain why it is NOT in "Network Adapters" (or whatever, I forget the specific heading). In order for XP to properly recognize the device, it has to have to correct driver for it. The .EXE file may actually install the devices completely, or it may only copy the drivers to the \System32 directory (where XP stores all device drivers). If it is the second case, you will need to show XP where the drivers are by "pointing" to them using the "Add New Hardware Wizard" which I think can be accessed from within Device Manager, or failing that you can also find it in the Control Panel. Either way, the Download Page from the link you posted has a .txt file available for download, which gives specific directions for how your manufacturer wants you to get your Device Drivers loaded. I suggest you read that .txt file at least twice, as I think part of your problem is that you need to "unlearn" what you think you know in order to learn what you need to know. I think that may be the core reason why you are having difficulty; this happens to me frequently. I try to put the round peg of what I think I know into the square hole of what is really going on. Read the .txt file twice, and post whatever text you don't understand from those directions here (quoted) and ask a question and I or someone else will decrypt it for you.

I doubt you did any harm, but this is not going to solve your problem. The sheer number of devices that are not installed correctly is telling me that you have to run some kind of motherboard drivers install program, more than likely the .EXE program I mentioned in the previous post. However, SP2 IS important. Keep that in mind, but do not worry about it until you get the device driver issues solved. But then make sure you install SP2 (either the standalone executable or via Windows Update) BEFORE connecting to the internet. SP2 has certain security fixes that will patch holes in the O/S. I read somewhere they did a study and found that 80% of unprotected computers were infected within 2 minutes of being connected to the internet. This is by merely passively connecting, and not surfing or downloading files. Running unprotected is very hazardous. You should also have your AV solution fully installed before connecting to the internet. All of this is secondary, and can wait until your more important Device Driver issues are resolved.

I found thoughs drivers and I read the txt file that was on the page on how to install them. I put the drivers on the flashdrive, Then put them on my laptop. I then followed the instruction to install it and it doesnt work.
__________________the instructions are telling me to run the wizard by clicking on Intel ethernet 10/100 (or whatever its called) listed under network adapters. It is not listed under that category, neither is it listed anywhere else. So basically, The drivers are being transferred, but when i follow the instructions to instal, They arent listed like the instructions say they will be. ???

and yes, The only
__________________SP2 that the website would allow me to "save" onto an external device was the one listed as the networking like you mentioned. It got half way through and had an error, then windows wouldnt work anymore after that. I reinstalled windows again but still I have the drivers problems. I actually talked to IBM/Lenova on the phone twice and they eventually said there is nothing we can do for you and they couldnt explain why it wasnt installing. (some service they are!)

Yes, It tells me the location specified does not exist or cannot be reached whenever I type the pro100ws03xp when searching for the drivers.

Did you copy the .EXE file to the folder on the Desktop, like I suggested.
__________________It's possible the USB stick is defective in some way and corrupting the data. Also, you are referring to an external drive. Is this USB also. Many M/B drivers also have a USB driver for USB 2.0, which may not be installed yet. In any case, the whole USB thing is not only unnecessary but may be complicating this thing by layering a new problem on an old problem. Copy all data for the driver installation operation to a folder on the desktop, and do all of your work from that folder. Going to read through the driver installation directions again, back in a bit... Quote:

Again, .EXE files DO something, they are not simply data. Did you double-click the .EXE ? If so, what happened. It should have prompted you for an install location of some sort. Quote:
Can you browse to these files using Windows Explorer ?

by makeing a folder, Do you mean copy the flashdrive to a folder, then run file from that folder on the laptop?
__________________Also, I have typed it in the search and it does pull up like 10-12 different results. I went through and clicked on each of them and all of them open as a notepad file and they are are just a page full of computer looking codes with squares, lines, circles, and so on.

Navigate to the Desktop & right click "New" > "Folder" and name the folder "Drivers" Double-click the new folder named "Drivers" Right click and then click "Paste" This should copy the 1urc13ww.exe file to the new folder "Drivers" which should be on your desktop. Remove the USB flash drive and throw it out the nearest window. Do not touch, look at or even think about it for the next 2 weeks. Disconnect the External USB drive and throw it out the window also. Double-click the 1urc13ww.exe file that is located in the folder named "Drivers" that is on your Desktop. Since both the flash drive & the external drive will be out in the yard, this executable will run from your internal HD, and not a USB drive. When you double-click the 1urc13ww.exe file, you should see the following window: ![]() If you do, run the install. Post results when you are done.
