i just built a pc for my dad and we installed vista flawlessly but now he cant even get on the internet. whenever he tries to connect it searches for wireless networks even though he doesn't even have a wireless card. he connects to the internet directly through the cable. how do i set it up so that it searches for networks on the cable and not on a wireless card.
hopefully i don't sound to noobish ![]()

Check to make sure all of your connections are set, first of all. Then, did you install the ethernet drivers from the CD that came with your motherboard? If so, try typing cmd in the search box on the start bar, then in the dos window that comes up type ipconfig /release and then ipconfig /renew. That might work for you. I take it when you go into a web browser and type in a random page that usually works it doesnt even go? Make sure to try navigating away from what is set as your homepage. Good luck!
