Default XP V's Vista Ultimate

Just got the new comp up and running and installed vista ultimate 32 bit. What a mistake. I will reformat and Xp pro is going on. I am really frustrated as I thought the new os would be step forward. Nothing but a big headache. A handfull of existing software works on this vista junk. Ati tool don't work properly. Peerguardian2 ain't supported. Nero neither. Half my games I installed had issues. Why bring out a new os which has so many issues. I notice alot of ocn members use vista but is it really worth the headache trying to find a suitable driver that works with vista. I have put in 2 days of solid downloading and installing drivers and basically finished up where I started. Good luck microsoft. I will wait about another 2 years or less before I try it again. Has anyone had this same experience?

You're right, its Microsoft's fault that Nero didn't make software for Vista. Whatever programs you are having problems with, there is likely an alternative. And ATI Tool works for me and I happen to have Ultimate 32 bit. What games are you having problems with?

I have tried it on both new cards/ Asus x1650xt 256 and Gecube 7950gt 512 and both cards were unable to be tweaked. The furry ball worked and thats about it. I used the vista version from the ocn download section and a few other sites as well. Not what I would call a good 2 days progress. Can't get torrents either.

I need to use peerguardian2 for safety concerns and it will not scan and block whilst on the net.

Enjoy being killed, because I made a thread like this and you will find very little support I believe most of the ocn members are being paid by microsoft to advertise vista. You will hear "user error" a lot. My thread got so heated it had to be shut down.

I totally agree vista isn't ready yet. I am running pro on everything, but when they fix vista I will give it another shot.

Why does everyone have to make their own thread announcing their resignation from vista? lol

Well to be fair, Apple's OSs have 100% compatibility. OS9 apps (cross-OS [9 to 10,] cross-platform [PPC to x86,] and cross-instruction [32-bit to 64-bit]) work flawlessly in the succeeding OS. Somehow, they made it "just work."

I think Linux shares the same ability as well.

Well there is some kind of Vista support for that in a release candidate form. Probably not fully operational but at least its a start and will probably be fully supported after a while. HERE

I don't much about Macs or Linux but I doubt they made as many kernel changes to their new OS's, something that Microsoft has to do to help prevent exploits.

To prevent exploits? I think that's being a bit lenient on an OS that costs $400, don't you?
