Default [Solution enclosed] Vista - Configuration Lockout?

Hey guys I have a legit, verified windows vista installed (business) and I've been locked out of all system configuration pretty much. I cannot access Control Panel, Windows updates, Welcome center, personalize desktop, My Computer Properties, just none of these windows show up. I spent an hour online with Microcrap and all they could do was a system restore by remote access which I coulda done myself and it still didn't fix nothing.

Any known fixes for this since M$ is a useless corporation? and what are the odds.. my tech reps name was Rahul.... hmm.. stereotypical?

Do a Repair Install, or pick another system restore point. This sounds like malware. What's your AV solution?

http://thevistaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=5835 <- I'm not sure if it's against the rules to post other forums here. . but is this similar to what you have? And would the solution there work? (It too is for the business version of Vista)

Default Nice Find !

You can post links to other forums as long as they are relevant to the thread and not an attempt at recruitment.

Quote:
Just in case anybody else has had the same issue as KLSsandman with the Software Licensing Service (SLSVC) stopping. The cause seems to have been with Automatic Updates. The system logs turned up some errors (included below) with integrating some updates. Automatic updates were turned off and seemed to have stopped the service from being disable.

To disable Automatic Updates
[windows key] > right/click computer | manage > computer management (local) services and applications > services > Windows update (double click) > General tab > Startup type | disabled

Example of the error logs:-
Windows Servicing failed to complete the process of changing update 905866-1_RTM_GDR from package KB905866(Update) into Staging(Staging) state
Check your SLSVC service. Make sure it is set to "auto", and hasn't been disabled. Make sure it is running in the task manager also.

Read the linked thread. Anything there sound similar to your situations ?

Dont forget to rep da spyder.

I think you are right, the situation is completely hopeless and everything sucks. No point in even trying anymore. No point in offering anymore suggestions either. It's over. Roll credits.
