Question Vista/3dmark06

I've noticed that once I ran Vista my benchmark went down. Has anyone had that happen to them? Thus when I oc, I got different benchmarks everytime even if I kept the same setting!?

You will more than likley never get the same result twice. Yes they maybe close but not the same.

Windows Vista is a little slower in benchmarking and gaming performance than XP. If your looking for better scores go with XP.

its marginal the score you'll get from XP to Vista. And he's right, the scores are never exactly the same because there are tons of variables going on at the time of your benchmark running. Windows is performing other things at the same time so it could get a different FPS here and there, stuff like that. Things could be held in cache longer one time before getting bumped out. who knows.

Question Vista

No doubt. I noticed that XP get better scores than Vista. Why is that?

The other thing to consider is that 3dm06 is a DX9 benchmark, so Vista is emulating backward compatibility. When 3dm07 comes out for DX10, I guarantee you'll get infinitely better results compared to your XP score. Literally infinite! LOL!

Thumbs up Good to know

That's good to hear that they will be coming out with a 3dmark07 that will support DX 10/Vista!
