its been awhile since i posted been busy with work and havent had a chance to play with my computer or done any upgrades, but im here in canda with my gf and she just bought a new computer with windows VISTA, how do i transfre all of her old files from windows XP to this new vista, can i just plug in the old hard drive? would vista read the XP hard drive? can i use a USB dongle to transfer files? or is there another way and easier way to do this?

A usb dongle will work but I doubt theres enough space to transfer everything at once. You'll be going back and forth. It's good to invest in an external hardrive.

![]() a cross over cable just saves the trouble of transfering files from os to os within the comp, but i suppose neither one is a whole lot faster than the other....that i know of...hah good luck

haha well they should have them at like a local radioshack or something. but if you don't have one close, you could just go out and find a place where you could buy some cat5 cable and then make one youself. they are really simple in that they are only cat5 cables with half of their connection wires "crossed over" with each other. so that could work if you go get some of that cable, buy the two adapter ends, do a little bit of research on how to make em and you got it
