I'm planning to upgrade or change my OS to one of these to make full use of my 4gb of ram. I remember before I ran XP 64 once but quickly went back to 32 because a lot of programs were not supported in 64. Is it still the same?

I've had VERY few compatibilty issues with Vista x64. I've been running it for almost a year and love it. My only 2 issues were:
1) Older scanner didn't have x64 drivers 2) King / Cessna private pilot learning kit wouldn't install / run. It was written with 16bit software. Grr... Otherwise, fast, 100% stable (no blue screens once non-beta ATI drivers installed)... I haven't had reinstall or anything to warrant any complaints.

I'm running XP64. I have yet to find a device that XP64 doesn't have a driver for.
That doesn't mean there ISN'T. I'm just saying out of all of mine, I have no trouble. Plus it's faster than vista :P *runs from vista fans* Yes, I've tried Vista, don't go down that road plx. ~Gooda~

It depends on what you like to do, XP works fine and is compatible with most applications. From my experience in Vista, many applications (Mainly older games, such as the ones that use DoS, and a few games built for windows 98 only work in XP and not in Vista).
__________________Vista is going to be THE operating system soon for the game makers and already is for the application makers, so it really depends on what you want to do. I like a lot of older games so I use WinXP Plus Vista is less effecient with RAM and CPU.

Actually Vista is more efficient with RAM and CPU. Most people assume Vista is using so much RAM when in actuality it's just caching it and making it more available for the PC.
Get Vista 64 over XP 64, no question about it.
