Default Dell does something right, vista gets the boot.

Good news, on Dec 14th dell released all the updated drivers for my laptop for xp. Before the only option for drivers were vista. Which if you caught my other thread you know that 25% of my old games wouldn't load/run/play in vista. About 80% of the ones that did crash randomly. Mind you that this is vista basic, and dells version. Vista is not user friendly to someone who has spent the majority of their time on 98/me/xp.

I have been mulling it over for a while, I tried to install xp about a month ago, but with no driver for the graphics card, well it was more than hard to do. But today vista put the final nail in its coffin, I was playing c&c3 when I get a directx10 error, on the last mission about 45 minutes in. That was after I got 2 blue screens on start up and vista told me it didn't know why I got them, but that I should fix them. Then it attempted to repair for about 40 minutes while I did other things then it said it couldn't fix it and just to restart or do a restore.

All the issue I have had have led me to just one conclusion, vista isn't for me ever. I can't wait to see the next os they come out with hopefully it won't be like vista.

Ps. to anyone who feels the need to post "user error" please feel free to put down your address and I will jay and silent bob you asap. I load games, I update, I play....thats it, not sure when you change nothing what user error there can be.

Lol. Nice way to end the post, I was waiting for someone to post that you are teh n00b. I have had no problems playing games on my Vista Ultimate 32. However that was not on a laptop, might be issues with laptop drivers, but their shouldn't be any. Good luck on XP, I'm back there with you as we speak.

I downloaded all the drivers yesterday, and figure on thursday thats my goal, funny thing is with the specs on it (2gb ram, 1.6ghz c2d, 8600m gt, 160gb hdd) especially that ram is overkill for xp lol.
