Neither have I had any problems with my xp 64 bit. But I slipstreamed sp2 onto my xp64, thus ensures a troublefree install. Plus less time downloading sp2.

I am also using XP x64 but I have had some driver issues and a few other minor issues so I decided to dual boot XP x32 and x64.

Slipstreaming is adding SP2 to your XP x64 regular install disk. Like said above this cuts down on the installation/download time as well as on problems installing later on.

Here is a quick guide that I found on how to do it.

Never heard of any problem like that, Windows Update works perfectly for me on XP x64. And yes I am using SP2.

Windows update problems are usually due to a connectivity issue.

Make sure you have pop-up blockers, firewalls, proxies etc all turned OFF. I hope you are using IE, too, NOT Firefox etc.

In addition, check your ActiveX security settings in IE and make sure they are not being blocked.
