Default Vista freezes... Please help
Alright lately i have been turning on my PC and after i enter my password it'll freeze up before the welcome center appears... I have run in cmd sfc /scannow to check if it might be a problem with the OS but nothing was wrong with it, then i put in an avast BART CD and it detected only one virus, and i made it check my disk drive and everything was good... Now it still does freezes up and i just want to know might else could i try? Oh and i did bring back my OC to stock and it is still doing it at stock please help me out

After a few re-boots it'll work... I can only use once and a while any ideas as what might be causing this?? i also ran a mem test and it passed it, i have run out of ideas as to what might be causing this to freeze all the time. Please help me

Re-install vista. It only takes 20 mins

Yea. Have to back up anything important. But first run orthos on your machine if you can get it to start without freezing to make sure it's not hardware. Also memtest tends to pass unless there is a severe problem. Orthos blend test should pick up any memory or cpu issues.

it sounds like a driver/app issue
once you log in the drivers initiate and cause a conflict. the result is some times its locks up the computer or bsod

try booting into safemode a couple of times to see if it still happens

Should bsod if driver. App, possible. I bought bitdefender and it would freeze my comps for awhile after getting to the desktop. Uninstalled and went back to free avast.

When i boot into safe mode it doesn't freeze

Don't know what that means though, how could i find out what app could be causing the freezing up?

Just reinstall Windows. Quickest and easiest thing to do and it fixes problems 90% of the time. And your files will be fine as long as they're on a different partition than Vista. And if you do have files on your Vista partition that you want to save, just boot into safe mode and copy them to another partition. Ex:
[C:] Vista32 <- All files will be deleted (programs, games, settings, etc.)
[D:] File Storage 1 <- All files are safe
[E:] File Storage 1 <- All files are safe
