if im runnung vista premium oem.. and i wanted to add.. lets say another gpu to sli or another hard drive.. do i have to re-activate the cd key?

The key is valid as long as it is kept with the motherboard that it was originally installed with. So you're fine.

i've been reading around in forums.. people are saying that if u upgrade then you might have to call and re-activate the key.. planning on getting oem but dont know if i want retail now.. im just confused about it thats all..

No worries, but Dismounted is right, the key stays with the MOBO

I usually have to re-enter my key when my system undergoes what Microsoft calls "significant hardware changes."

either way if its the same mobo youre fine. if you have to re-enter it it SHOULD go through. if it doesnt microsoft will give you another key. you still have the same pc (mobo).

No, it should go through again, but use the phone activation option, it seems to work better.
