I'd stick with your XP
Except if you want to get on with DX10 gaming !

If you are taking the risk of going to 64-bit OS anyway, there's no reason to stay with XP. I would dual boot, if I were you. 32-Bit XP should be compatible with anything and everything Vista 64 isn't.

I'm using vista x64 ultimate (with some tweaks for performance) and I love it. If you have the funds then i suggest getting ultimate but if you don't wanna spend the dough get home premium, its the next best thing. I wouldn't go home basic as it removes aero and flip3d and such.

b/c i want to use all the memory i have installed micro, and when i do put music editing programs on here i wasn't sure, while i'm at it, if i should try to get a free upgrade from m$ to pro or just go full out and get the vista 64. it looks like vista64 is the more favorable for my situation
