Default Sound doesn't work after hibernate.

It seems like this might be a Vista problem more than a soundcard problem because it only happens when coming out of hibernate mode.

It happens maybe 1/4 of the time, and all I need to do is go into standby and back out which takes about 3 seconds. Anyone have a fix, or an idea of what's going on?

I fix it by going in and out of standby, which brings the sound back.

Your links only say to update the drivers, and I already have the latest.

The usual problem with things not working after hibernate is because the computer still does do some stuff while hibernating. The problem comes in with interrupts. Something grabs an interupt, the OS can't manage that (its dead), and when the OS comes back there's an interrupt conflict the OS knows nothing about...then a device just stops working. Doing the standby thing though, is confusing????

Have you looked in Event Viewer?

Thanks for the help, even though I can't find anything in the Event Viewer that seems to involve my problem.

What going in and out of standby does, for some reason, the computer comes back with sound. I do this instead of restarting. Does that make sense?

"Sence" doesn't matter, working does.

I'd look, on Microsoft's website, into just what standby actually does and how it relates to IRQ.

It's "sense." And nevermind, because I can't find the answer. It's not that big a deal anyway. Thanks.
