When trying to edit the start menu for All Users, I run into that damned UAC "we need to make sure you're an admin" every time I try to cut, copy, or paste a shortcut. It's really friggin' annoying - is there any way to lock myself into perma-admin mode when editing the start menu so I don't have to deal with this for every file operation? Or maybe there's a 3'rd party app out there that I can run as an admin to edit the start menu?

The option for this is actually in user accounts, not windows security central like common sense would tell you.
You go to user accounts and turn off user account control for the user. vista's control panel = fail. They tried too hard to make it too easy.

Go to "control panel" then "users" then disable "UAC"

I don't want to remove UAC though - it's there for security reasons, and I don't mind it all that much. Is there a way to do this without disabling UAC?

lol, well, I'm usually very careful with my computer anyway, and even running xp I never got any spyware or viruses inadvertantly. UAC is just another layer of protection, and it's never popped up when I didn't expect it to. Which actually just makes it an annoyance...

Good points though. Users are definitely the weakest link in IT security - it's MUCH easier to fool a person than it is to fool a firewall or antivirus software.
