Thought I was past due on making a How-to, so I figured now is as good as time as any. The purpose of this how-to is for the user to be able to repair his boot.ini file which was damaged either in a Windows upgrade or other scenario.
*Note this How-to was intended for Windows XP users* 1. The first, step is to insert your Windows XP ![]() 2. Restart, If the cd is auto-detected push any key to boot from cd. If the cd is not automatically detected press F8 during the post, and select your CD/DVDdrive. If you are still unsucessfull in booting from cd, you can enter BIOS by tapping delete during post, and changing the boot order of your devices. (Put the CD/DVD drive first) 3. Push R to run Recovery Console ![]() 4. If required, type the number of your target operating system at the prompt, if also required, type in your password. 5. Type in bootcfg /rebuild at the prompt. a. Prompt Add installation to boot list? ![]() 6. Type Exit Your Finished! Hope this helps someone out.

With Vista, it is easier to use Vista Startup Repair or EasyBCD

Nice How To Bro
![]() you can also edit it by loading it as a secondary hdd and editing the .ini file yourself it's what i did and it was pretty quick and easy but im sure there's a downside to doing this somehow..

Hehe sounds like a quick fix if you have an extra HDD with the same OS. Nice tip!
