Mini-Vista: v-Lite SP1 Success - Overclock.net

I tried v-Lite last night for the first time on a Vista Ultimate SP1 ISO. No. I'm not advertising (it's freeware). It's a program that allows you to customize and create a Vista install ISO, removing features, drivers, programs, etc that you don't use, while automating the Vista installation process and driver installation. It cuts down some of the bloat.

I was relatively conservative about what I de-selected, removing only things I knew I wouldn't want or need.

Here is Vista Ultimate SP1 with chipset, storage, sound, and display drivers:

Nah.. sadly you have to download the intergrated ISO if you want it intergrated.

Luckily I have the integrated .iso, I might try a vlited disc tonight

. I love vlite, greatest freeware program right behind Handbrake.

Has Microsoft released an integrated .iso? I wonder if I could find one of those discs only in Best Buy that is $5 with SP1 integrated.

I doubt that. nLite for XP was able to slipstream the SP's if you happened to have an XP disc without SP1 & 2 you could download them from microsoft and use nLite to slipstream them (you could slipstream them without nlite, but it was much harder).

There are way to do it but microsoft made it so you cannot slipstream SP1 with vlite or nlite, the standalone is now in a .EXE form. The only way to do it now is a long process which requires you to install two OSes.

There is plenty of documentation about why you cannot do it.

Slipstream was suppose to be a big feature of Vista, however it didn't materialize. Apparently slipstream will come with Vista SP2.

The SP1 and 2 for XP were exe's. There's could be a command line switch; I'll concede for now, until I get a little more knowledge on the subject.

Edit: This seems like a major mistake on Microsoft's part... It looks like they completely omitted this functionality.

It has nothing to do with them being .exe's.
