I love Vista . I use the vista x64 and never had any problems. I believe Vista SP1 will only make it better

I think it's m$'s best OS, but I ultimately dislike it for the following reasons:

1. It absolutely sucks on a computer older than 1 year.
2. Impacts raw performance (which sucks for me because I use windows ONLY for games).
3. They tried too hard to organize things (example: the control panel sucks.)
4. It just requires too many tweaks to make it functional (have to disable this and that, like driver signing and UAC and enable this and that like admin, etc.), and this gives me hell because I reformat windows once every 2-4 months (XP takes me long enough to get setup after a format, 4 hours or so; I don't need vista making that longer)

So basically if you're just building a computer and are going to make it fairly modern, vista could be a good investment. But if you're like me and are out for raw performance and don't depend on windows for regular desktop work, XP is probably better (or even 2000). For desktop use, a lower-maintenance OS is what I prefer.

Boy, I know that feeling

30 pages in my tweak guide, and I still find more tweaks to do everytime I investigate the registry.....

I like vista, there are a few quirks (driver signing, to name one) that drive me nuts, as well as driver support (Linksys is non-existent). But overall, it feels snappy as well as performing very well!

The only time I have used vista is on my nan's laptop, (intel celeron, 512mb ram) ran really slow, but thats not vista fault i guess, but it will be a long time 'till you get me without XP.

IMO vista isn't bad but it's not good either, basicly I see it as a candy coated xp. Yes it has all these cool little features but when it comes down to it, they aren't needed. If I didn't have an operating system I would probably buy vista but since I do, I'm sticking with xp. I don't need a more graphical gui, I don't need a "more user-friendly interface." To me all these new features in vista aren't worth $100-200 more.

All boils down to personal preference.

I've used Vista 64 (tried ultimate and business), and I did not enjoy it. I didn't find it any quicker to startup or any more responsive than a well tuned XP system.

I tried almost everything it worked on 32bit but cant make it to work on 64. But like I said that makes me a good excuse to get a new tablet who will gave me a better working flow on Zbrush.
