So Im installing Vista on the new PC I built my parents. I have a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L board. Im not sure if i should use the AHCI option in the BIOS. The drive I ordered is a Seagate 7200.11 drive.

this may not be the answer you are looking for but:
ALWAYS try to install the latest software drivers for you chipset... vista uses generic MS developed drivers, while your chipset drivers are optimized for your specific configuration.

Well I found that even though Vista has a driver it really needs to have the AHCI from Intel installed. So It seems that this worked, thanx.
