Question Disable Utility Manager

Is there a way to disable Utility Manager (WinKey+U) in WinXP? If so, then how do I do it?

Go to your system32 folder and find utilman.exe. Rename it to something else (such as _Utilman.exe) and you should be unable to use this shortcut.

Make sure you sandpaper the hole, and then put some U rubber over it to avoid sharp edges. Put some grease around the newly drilled hole, and then screw your computer, screw it hard. Maybe install some UV lights and turn em up to indicate that your computer is also excited.

I was afraid to do that, but of course it worked perfectly as always. Thank you.

For anyone reading this to find out the answer, I want to share that I renamed it utilmantemp.ex_ to give me peace of mind.

Just curious, what does utility manager do and why would you disable it?

It has something to do with accessibility. I wanted to disable it because I prefer to shut down using the keyboard. You see, I disabled the welcome screen so I could have that cool combo box of choices when I press WinKey, then U, then Enter (that is, if I wish to use my last choice, which is almost always Restart. And if it's not, then I just press R after U, and then hit enter).

So, the Utility Manager is annoying.
