Default For anyone who has installed windows xp...

How long does your screen stay on the "setup is inspecting your computer's hardware configuration..."? Mine stay there for a long time, and I'm not sure if it's installing it right, or there's a problem.

How long is a long time? Anything under 5 or 6 minutes is pretty normal depending on the specs of the computer.

Pretty new...it's the one in my signature. Windows wouldn't boot and gave me the "press r to try to do a repair install of windows" error because it was missing system32 file or something. I don't have a repair cd...only a full install of xp from my dad's work.

Depends on the system.

About 10 minutes on my K6-2...maybe 45 seconds on my primary setup.

2 hours is way too long. Reboot and see if it continues, if it gets stuck again, disable (in the BIOS) or remove absolutely every component not necissary to install windows and try again.
