Clear cmos and you could also try safe mode.

I don't understand what the problem is. Passes post, shows boot screen, then what? It just freezes?

You are either missing or have some corrupt windows files or you have registry corruption somewhere. You can try to boot into the recovery console and copy the file that is missing. If its registry corruption there is a process you can go through to fix it, it is quite time consuming though. There is a process for doing this on MS's site, its for xp 32 though, its basically the same you will just have to change the i386 path with whatever xp 64 uses.

thanks for the help i tried that, and its not working just wont boot up for some reason my Win XP CD wont boot up at windows so i have tried using a floppy (yes you heard me right a floppy) start up disk to start an install, i tried a Ubuntu Live CD so that i could copy the files from C:\ to D:\ so that i can then do a fresh install but that failed wouldnt work couldnt find my DVDRW even though i just clearly booted up a Live CD with it :S i am now installing a 32bit version of windows onto the HDD going to copy all my stuff over then put my old DVDRW in and attempt to boot up my Windows CD, if that dont work i am stuff, for some reason my CD wont boot up on startup, any thoughts? (i am going to make another Floppy to try start up with)
so yep any thoughts?
