I have Vista Home Premium 64, and I have yet to see the update for Service Pack 1. Have most of you guys got it? Is there something wrong? If anyone can enlighten me, I'd appreciate it.

i think they are waiting on the language packs or something to that effect. it should be out real soon.

Windows Vista is flawed... like all Windows before it... it then gets patched (which you can do by updating it automatically)... these patch security flaws, bugs etc.

Know that there are enough critical flaws patched M$ brings out a Service Pack that has all of these patches in it so you can patch your copy up to that point (any updates and/or pacthes after SP1 is released you will not have...) until there are enough and then they will take all the updates from SP1 until then and bring out SP2... and so the cycle continues... XP is now getting SP3...

So if you just run all the required updates you will see you will also have "SP1"

Because of the above problem I decided to re-install Vista... pity I didn't use Windows Updates Downloader so now I gotta get all the updates again

Vista SP1 is out for 64bit systems. I have it already, and I didn't get as a torrent. Someone said that Microsoft has been rolling it out in fazes to keep up with the downloading.

I would check again to see if you can get it. I assume you know how.

Reasons for not getting SP1 in Windows Update (quoted/translated from a M$ article in a Dutch newspaper; "Automatiserings Gids"):
EDIT: Oh and I had no problems (except having to reinstall my network drivers afterwards), but I downloaded it directly from the m$ website.

to answer the above

1) sp1 requires all of the previous updates to be installed before the small sp1 update can be installed
2)M$ being lazy ... but then what do you expect
3)the blocker tool is to stop people that have not brought the software
4)if you edit the registary to hack on vista (ie not buying it :P )

7)may relate to number 4 were the registry has been changed to remove features (vlite removes stuff from vista to make it a smaller install this can mean that something the installer wants to use isnt there)
8)the release notes for sp1 say that all important previous updates must be installed before sp1 can be ... this means that if the person doesnt own vista and missed a important update so that there installation of vista still works by illegal means

this post is not pointed to anyone and its meant to make out that no one has illegally obtaine there software and if it does i apoligiese to you


you can google vista sp1 64 bit and download the update from the microsoft website

I just pressed check for new updates and boom Vista Service Pack 1 came up! Thanks guys, sorry if you guys thought this thread was useless

no,mine was like that untill 1 week ago,took 3 trys to get it to work tho.
