Default Vista reboot issues

I am running a dual boot Vista and Ubuntu 64-bit. However lately I have been having problems with both randomly freezing and needing to reboot. My only question becomes is this because of the dual boot setup or could this be a power supply problem with an overclocked e6400 and 8800gt on a gamexstream 700? it only has 18A rails but I am unsure if the rails are running separate or on the same one. Any help would be greatly appreciated. In addition when I reboot it generally has trouble getting back into Vista without rebooting after logging in.

I'm not doubting your intelligence here, but I have to ask: have you increased the vcore a little to see if this helps?

Or rather, have you run extensive stress tests to see if the system is truly stable?

I know - these are dumb questions being aimed at somebody who's been here for a solid year, but I know how easy it is to forget these things.

yep, I have played with voltages, clocks, prime 95 when it rarely boots. Now I am at the point of where I can't even get into windows without being in safe mode. But I am getting

DCOM got error "1084" attempting to start the service EventSystem with arguments "" in order to run the server:
{1BE1F766-5536-11D1-B726-00C04FB926AF}

so I am looking towards that. I am hoping that it is just a dual boot problem and solvable, but I have no idea. But I do appreciate making me rethink the basics, often times I do retarded stuff and forget about them, but this time I have gone through just about everything.

either way I ordered up a q6600, DFI p35-t2rs, and a PCP&C 750 just for the hell of it. Wanted those anyways, this just gives me a reasonable excuse even if its not the problem.

It's all good. I know how frustration can blind us (it's just because we're so smart, you know).

I think that's really cool that this motivated you to get new stuff. New stuff, especially THAT stuff, is really fun.

I hope these bumps get your question answered...
