Default Incorrect Ram Display

I have 4GB (1gbx4) of Ram installed on my computer, and vista is only recognizing 3.50Gb. What could cause this?

You have a 32-bit operating system. It won't recognize more than 3.5 in Vista which basically means you paid for 4, but only get to utilize 3.5 of it. Sorry but you should've gotten the 64-bit system (same price) and you wouldn't have this problem.

I had lots of problems with the x64 version, and it eventually crashed.

32 bit operating system only sees 4gigs total- your video ram takes away from that total.

Just what Justin146 said. 32bit sees 4GB max. 4GB- 512vid=3.5GB sysmem
4GB- 768GTX=~3.2GB sysmem

64bit is the ONLY way to see the full 4BG or run without a vid card :-p

Video cards aren't the only things that take away from the RAM either. PCI buses, sound devices, etc all use up that paging space.
