Default Vista and RAM...Calm Down lol.

I have to say that recently I see so many people CLAIM that if you do not have atleast 4GB that Vista/Vista 64 will run poorly. I just do not get it.

If you are HEAVY gaming in Vista then 4GB is perhaps reccomendable but people who are using Vista under business or multimedia situations just do not need more than 2GB.

I have Vista 64 with 2GB and I play games just fine...that also includes Crysis.

Sometimes I just do not see the basis for the whole ''Get 4GB for Vista or the end is near''

Yes, also I'm using Vista Ultimate x64 with 2 GB of RAM. And no problems so far. I'm sure it would better operate with 4 GB (there is also benchs on 8 GB with gain in performance in Vista). After all with 2 GB its not annoying to use it. Even I can log in with 2 users and swap between them with Lineage 2 games on each

well......speaking from personal experience i tried running 2gb (sig ram)
to see if 4gb was hindering my OC & it just clogged ....pages & apps took forever ...cpu was working alot harder on startup too.
then chucked in a 3rd stick (3gb total) & it flew !!!!!!!!!!!

though my 2180 prolly slowed things a little with less ram (maybe)

vista seems to physically work much harder than XP on startup so the extra RAM is a must......IMO

well... I have had kinda the opposite experience with Vista...

I installed x64 ultimate on my main rig back when it had only 1gb RAM.... bad mistake I say, sometime I have to try to reinstall it and see how it does...

My laptop came with home premium x86 and it just plain sucked with Vista.... even with the 2 gigs of RAM and a dualcore turion. Maybe it was all the crap that was installed on it, maybe not, but everything took forever.... and trackmania nations didn't work at all...

i'd say, if M$ used 6 months extra in Vista, it would have been pretty decent.... and probably at least a little bit faster...

I don't say outright that Vista sucks, in fact it's beautiful... I just love all the nice aero effects and the 3dflip... but i've seen stuff that can do more than that.... with less resources (talking about compiz)

also.... one of the things i'd like to see in Windows, is the ability to switch workplaces like in Linux... hope that comes in Windows 7
