Default Windows Update - Git Out O' Mah Systray!

This is more of a quirk than an annoyance or a problem but each time I boot into XP and everything loads I get the little yellow shield icon telling me there is a new update. Clicking on it yields no explaination what it feels needs to be downloaded and installed and when I check via Windows Updates it doesn't show that there is anything I need.

I have it set so that I'm notified that updates are out there but I get to pick and choose which ones I install.

Now this little icon will stay put until I connect to the intarwebz. Once I'm connected it disappears and that is that until the next time I boot.

Any thoughts?

try disabling it, then leave it off for a little bit/couple reboots, then re-enable it.

If you're away from the internet for extended periods, why not just turn off WU altogether and check manually every once in a while?
