Boot Failure, Not hardware
Hello once again to all the extremely helpful community of over clock
I'm having a little issue here with this computer, It was given to me to look at and it appears to have booting issues. It would go through its post, get to the loading windows screen then sit blank for ever until you restarted it. Safe mode is no exception, would go through its post thing and stop on system 32/ acpi sumthin.dat
What i did was (since it had two hard drives and one wasn't used) was install windows 64 Pro Pro to just check to see if it could even boot and sure enough it worked like a charm. I can access the files on the other hard drive and its Running windows XP 64 bit edition but i don't know if its home or professional.
My question is, if possible, am I able to fix the windows system files from this hard drive to the other in order to see if it will boot properly? If so, what files would i need and where could i get them. Apparently hes got a lot of school work on there and games installed so he wasn't wish to completely wipe it, but if we have too then we have too. Any ideas on what i could do?
