Ok, brand new HDD, (his hdd failed [you could hear it broken] and he sent it in and got a refund and bought a new one) so I go to install Vista, get to the screen where I select the HDD. I select it, and select next and it sits for a while... Only to come up saying something about cannot create a partition... The error code was 0x80010105

forgive me if i'm not understanding correctly. but, you dont want a partition, right, you want to do a fresh install, dont you. if so, then you just install windows, no need for a partition.

You should have to highlight the drive, press new, then press OK, then press format before clicking next.

Can't do new... won't let me... some other error. Also talks about something about the system not preparing the hdd for use or something...

PS: no, he has 2gb.

And sorry my descriptions suck, I am at home now... not at his pc.

Could be a HDD problem. Can you format the drive with the manufacturer's utility? I use Western Digital's Data Lifeguard utility to format my HDDs prior to installing an OS...
