Default RAM problems in Vista x64.

Hey guys, I'm having problems with my sig rig. I built this monster, and am having the strangest problem. I installed 8(4x2GB) of RAM, but Task Manager registers only 28xxGB of RAM. When I right click on Computer and go to properties, it says I have 8.00GB installed. Before you ask, yes, it is a 64bit OS, not 32.

I'm looking through my BIOS right now (on my lappy typing) but cannot find anything like "Memory Remap" Can anyone help me out? Speed is appreciated!

Did you upgrade from 2GB? If so, do you have the hotfix or SP1 installed? If you don't have those, it really shouldn't have booted, but if it did on an off chance, that may be your problem. Other than that, does your bios show the full 8GB?

My memory remapping feature is actually listed under the chipset features in my P5E bios.

When I first booted up, I only used 2GB, installed windows, then installed the rest and did all updates and installs of my programs. Screen shot coming up...

EDIT: I used windows update, if the hotfix didn't download automatically, I'd really appreciate a link.

That IS the issue. Enable memory remap and you're set.

I can't find it, this is my first DFI board and it's driving me insane! It took me half an hour just to figure out how to set up RAID 0.

Well if you do, I know for a fact it's the issue. Just google something like Memory Remap + (board model). Might help... Just do whatever you can to find it

If you ran updates, you have the hotfix, as I thought you did, just a precation . I think memory remapping is to blame here.
