I tried to install Windows Vista 64-bit on my rig and it gets to the loading screen right before the part where you would enter your name, and organization (setup options) and the thing blue screens (too fast to read). It then reboots and gets to the same part and blue screens again, and this is repeated forever. I tried my Dads Windows Vista 32-bit disc and the installation goes smoothly and completes without a problem.
__________________I noticed that the Vista 64-bit disc has a few small scratches on it while the 32-bit disc does not. Could those few small scratches cause these problems, or is it possible that my PC suddenly doesn't like 64-bit?

I doubt the scratches would cause that.

~4GB RAM issue, leave 1 stick of RAM in so you have 2GB and install, then update with Windows Update and put the rest of the sticks in.

So it could be the CPU or something else not working with 64-bit anymore?

You need to install Vista x64 with only 2 sticks of memory installed. You need to get the 4GB hotfix AFTER the OS is installed and updated, and THEN you put the memory in. This is a known bug with the x64 installer.

Have you tried with only 1gig of mem? If not try that. Look around. I have seen a bunch of posts about loading problems with higher than 1-2gigs of mem in Vista.
^^^^^ LOL what they said.

Thanks for the suggestion, I heard of that happening before but didn't cross my mind. I'll give that a try when I get home.

More than likely a RAM issue of some sort.
