Default virtual pc console question

I figured this is the right place for this, if not please move it.

I'm running vista 64 bit, and I downloaded virtual pc console and added xp. It works great, but I have to put data from my old pc into my new one and xp dose not see my External Hard drive. In the setting for vm it has 3 hard disks number one is xp. I clicked on disk 2 and told it to add a new virtual disk. I went through the steps in the wizard and it sow my External Hard drive but it added a new hard disk in the External Hard. I can't move or added file to it and xp still dose not see it.

This is my first time using vm so people that know it please help me out. What im I doing wrong?

Thanks

What you are doing is creating a virtual hard drive on the hard drive you want to use, instead of sharing the hard drive.

On microsoft virtual pc 2004 (what I have) you can right click on the folder in the bottom left to manage the folders/drives you want to share with the Virtual PC.

Look through the options for drive sharing, as opposed to creating a new drive.
