so...long story short, i installed XP on another partition and now my Vista bootloader is gone.
i tried this method: http://apcmag.com/how_to_dual_boot_v...step_guide.htm when i get to the part where i choose the version of vista to be repaired, it tells me that version of system recovery is not compatible with the version that i am trying to repair its from the same freakin disc. is there any easier way to enable vista's bootloader? thanks!

i tried to do an install of vista over itself to try and restore bootloader, but it wanted to throw everything in windows.old. would that basically kill all my apps and basically leave me with a messed up install?
i really dont want to reformat and reinstall everything, but if there is no other way..... why cant they play nice with eachother? ![]()

they play nice together if you do it right. you have to reformat and reinstall XP then vista. then you can also get your files you need of your vista drive and put them on a disk or what ever.

i did that and it still goes directly into XP. i saw in their support forum it said to do that then do a repair so hopefully it works.
i tried a repair earlier, but it gave me an error saying my system recovery was incompatible for some reason.
