Emulation of 32bit code is perfect, no performance is lost. Otherwise you would lose performance from running a 32bit OS on a 64bit CPU.

In short, there is no reason of any kind now to get a 32bit OS, get 64bit.

Vista, XP has no advantages at this point either. Ever since drivers matured it's been a no-brainer.

Well if you're happy with XP you could always stick with it until you build your next PC. Gaming is Vista is about the same as in XP, there's no need to upgrade unless you want to. Really you'd probably be fine waiting until your next PC or Windows 7.

That being said I personally run and love Vista x64. My only complaint about it is how bloated it is taking up like 6-8GB of disk space compared to XP which used 700MB-2GB depending on how optimised the OS was.

well ill be getting a 9600gt and a new power supply and then my pc will be good enough for atleast 2 years i think. I think im going to go to vista if the gaming is the same because i think it looks better and i just like using it. But i can remeber when i was using my single core 2.4ghz iwas getting game lag in vista and now in xp, but hopefully that should be gone.
