Look at my sig for my system, im putting it together as we speak, im wondering which version of vista i should install, i read somewhere that you need 3GB+ for 64bit, is this true, or will my 2GB be good enough?

You don't need to have 3GB+ in order to use vista 64. If you are going to be running 3Gb or more you need vista 64 to see it all, but yes you can run vista 64 with only 2GB. Personally I'd go with vista 64.

either will be fine right now, however, with 64-bit you'll be better suited for the future.
It's actually the other way around... You'll need 64-bit to use RAM above, say, 3.25GHz. If you have <3GB you'll be fine with 32-bit, but even then I'd recommend 64-bit.

x64 means basically 64 bit.
And since x86 is the instruction set most computers use (just about all Intel, Via, or AMD chips you will ever touch), you will see x86-32, which means 32 bit x86 or just x86. x86-64 means the 64 bit instruction set for x86.

Vista is pants atm
I miss my XP MCE Still might downgrade. Almost all programs work OK but just about. Although vista runs like a slug, everything is longer to load. Every time I install an application or game it fails to create a start menu folder. WMP likes to jump onto the screen saver sometimes while playing video. Games run ok'ish slowing the odd time to chunner away with silly background processes. My rig likes to play games sometimes, one by one crashing applications and services until CTRL+ALT+DEL just leaves me with a blank screen causing a manual reset. For me everything has been made either more difficult or just tediously annoying. Personally i'd love to stick to XP but I feel the need for upgrading to x64 & DX10 amongst other features. XP is still more solid & versatile however I feel things will improve. I do not know weather my issues lie with the x64 version but if I had to choose for a gaming rig it would without a doubt be Vista x64.
