Well it seems like I might have to do that just to get it to change, I had a legit copy of windows vista ultimate 32 bit, reformated and got a legit copy of vista 64 bit but home premium, I put the new product key in and it still has the same old product key of ultimate, even when I click on change product key the old one still shows up
![]() ![]() Someone help! lol

Did you enter the new product key when Ultimate was already installed? You can't switch a product key if they are two different versions once Vista is installed. If you want to go from Ultimate -> Home Premium, you have to install Home Premium, not install Ultimate and just switch the keys.

I installed ultimate first with the product key etc etc and then I wanted a 64 bit os but since I had the oem ultimate version I couldnt get it, well that I knew off?? So I bought the 32 bit home premium version installed and while installing it asked for product key I installed it and when it was done I checked my computer and same product key as ultimate and I even tried changing through my computer but no luck

That is odd. Did you format your computer or just try to install over Ultimate? Is the key actually registered and Genuine or it gives you a warning that you need to purchase Windows?

keys are valid and no warnings, I just dont want to get one later on. I reformated twice and yesterday I screwed up vista so I had to reinstall it and format agian and still get the same key.

Yeah, I agree with The_Rocker, you must not have formatted properly, otherwise, it wouldn't say something like that.

i hope your not talking about the key that microsoft gives you after you intall windows. if so then that is your computs ID for microsoft and will not change till you change boards.
