Default Windows Vista Update and Security Center Problem

Okay so here is the deal. I have Avast Antivirus protection.

B/F this is had NOD32 I just installed Avast now that my nod32 trial expired.

Windows is now saying that i have no antivirus protection and windows defender is off.

When i try to turn windows defender on it says no defenions available???

Please help much appeciated --Jeff

Every time i try to install updates it fails??

Did you uninstall NOD32 first, reboot and then install Avast?
