Default Need help to build courage to try Vista again

Hi

I am thinking of moving on from XP Pro to Vista Ultimate again.

but before i do i just need some courage do to some problems and quires

1) Do i need 32 or 64 bit vista? if it does not matter which is better and why? (compatibility is my priority tho)

2) When i did try before with a 32bit it kept giving me blue screen for my Trust Sound card (so i returned it to the shop)

3) i use VNC a lot, and the free edition does not support Vista, so i would like to know if i buy the personal edition, and my client comps have free am i able to view it?

4) will i be able to fold like i do now with the graphic client and GPU client

Thanks

Do you have any particular reason for switching to vista? If you are happy with XP why would you switch?

We use Vista on our IT laptop machine. We use VNCviewer and it works flawlessly with Vista.

If you're very tight on compatability, please dont go for it as you'll definitely get an intension to move back to XP, as that's what happened to me...But if you're ready to adjust with vista, you can go for it sure. And dont use vista without having it up to date as microsoft has released many fixes that have solved minor compatability and performance issues. Good Luck!

1) Do i need 32 or 64 bit vista? if it does not matter which is better and why? (compatibility is my priority tho)

You dont need 64bit but i would reccomend it incase you switch to 4gb of memory.

2) When i did try before with a 32bit it kept giving me blue screen for my Trust Sound card (so i returned it to the shop).

Most compatability issues from the os itself are fixed. I have not herd a problem with something working in a long time except x-fi cards becusae creative sucks.

3) i use VNC a lot, and the free edition does not support Vista, so i would like to know if i buy the personal edition, and my client comps have free am i able to view it?
No idea
4) will i be able to fold like i do now with the graphic client and GPU client
Not sure but i know you can atleast fold

Doesn't matter as compatibility is very good on both types, it really boils down to memory. If you only ever going to have 2GB Ram then stick with 32Bit, but 64Bit is required for 4GB Ram or more. Because 32Bit Operating Systems cannot address more than 4GB of total system memory (this is all forms of memory GPU mem etc). 4GB Ram will work on a 32Bit OS, just you won't see all of it.

2) When i did try before with a 32bit it kept giving me blue screen for my Trust Sound card (so i returned it to the shop)

More than likely an issue with drivers, vista has a lot of issues when it comes to sound drivers. Especially on the Creative side of things...

3) I use VNC a lot, and the free edition does not support Vista, so i would like to know if i buy the personal edition, and my client comps have free am i able to view it?

Not to familiar with that one, sorry.

Yes
