Default Install SP3??
Just wondering guys... I remember hearing about problems w/ SP3 and AMD systems... Having come back from Vista i'm just lookin for opinions

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4000+ 2.74Ghz		 Motherboard

no problmes from my end...
I work for NHS IT...

Installed SP3 on all the PC's i support on both INtel and AMD systems...no issues
Istalled SP3 on all my home PC's...
AMD Athlon 3700 - fine
AMD Opteron 180 - fine
AMD Athlon XP 3000 & 2600 & 1700 - fine...

no worries about SP3 from my end!

Alright.... Is there gonna be anything noticeable?.... Or is it an upgrade jus for the hell of it basically?

How is the best way to get it as they took it off the automatic updates? I just did a fresh install of xp pro sunday so putting it on now would be best.

ON a clean build of a PC...
you still have still have to upgrade to SP2 first...
BUT...
instead of going online to windows update and spend half the day downloading and installing the latest windows updates...
install...SP2...reboot
install...SP3...reboot...THEN only a couple of security updates...

SP3 bascially incorparates ALL the secuirty upgrades possible from SP2 to when SP3 was released...
for me it saves time and less hassel getting a PC up to the current standard...

people say windows loads up quicker and helps with performance...
i have seen no increase and no decrease in performace...

i went to Windows update through IE7 and boom it was there

i did the manual download from Microsoft...the 316mb download...
THAT way IF you need to install it again...its already downloaded...

Hmm... Well my xp includes SP2... So do i not even bother w/ sp3 then? Since I'm already caught up w/ updates
