I don't think are any advantages aside from DX10 (advantage.....HA)and the pretty GUI. Other than that, I find them pretty much the same. I'm using Vista Ultimate x64 right now. I do like it except for the fact that you cannot install any unsigned drivers

DX10, superfetch, and thats it. The list of disadvantages is much longer, see my previous post for more info.

If you have *****ty hardware, there will be problems w/vista. I certainly don't and it runs like the Kenyans during the olympics.

You should upgrade to Vista x64 only if you have the extra money. Don't upgrade to Home Premium, its a waste of money. Only upgrade to Ultimate x64. Like I said, only do this if you have an extra $180 lying around. Vista Ultimate x64 is really not too much better than XP Pro x64.

If you like what you have why switch? I personaly love Vista Ultimate 64-bit, but if your going to get anything just get Premium 64-bit. It's basically the same thing without a few dudads.

I made the move from XP x64 to Vista 64 Ultimate at Christmas & haven't looked back. No compatability problems (except for Beyond Good & Evil's copy protection, but that doesn't like 64 bit regardless). I wouldn't get Ultimate though as the extra's you get are relatively pointless. From a gaming point of view Home Premium 64 is more than adequate.

Only issue I had was a failed SP1 installed which killed the OS, but a clean install fixed it. Haven't booted into XP in about 2 months.

Regarding the OEM Vista question, I swapped my mb a while back & just had to reactivate online (20 seconds).

lol i could not agree more.

most people who bash vista either have a single core with < 1gb of ram

used it for a week around when it was released had driver issues and never tried again ( but continue to bash it )

honestly if you have new hardware its a great os i use alot of different ones in school, server 2k server 2003 xp linux unix etc and i still love coming home to my 64bit vista comp. its all personal preference try it and if you dont like it switch back

Ok, would you like to look back on my previous threads and posts and solve each problem I have had with vista so far?

Another thing thats broken on vista --

PLParEQ does not work in foobar2000 0.8.3 with a winamp vst host plugin and a winamp to foobar bridge plugin. It did work in XP x64.

Hmm. Sounds specific. I dont know/use any of those programs. Do you really need them anyway?
