To get the 64bit version, all you need to do is download windows (via torrent, or otherwise) and use your CD key to install it. It works, I used to use 32bit Hom Basic, then I just downloaded an x64 Version and installed it. Easy as easy can be.

All you need is a 64 bit version of the disk.
__________________You can get one from MS HERE for a "minimal fee". In the US it is $10. I would go with 64 bit. 64 bit is the future, and the drivers and support are excellent (except for a certian sound card manufactuer, who is not very creative )

I believe you can only do that if you bought the Retail version of Vista, not the OEM version.

I had Home Premium 32bit, my friend had 64bit they both are OEM versions and the product keys work for each. OEM and Retail can all go together as long as its the same product... (ie. Basic 32 to Basic 64, Home Pr 32 to Home Pr 64 exc.. )

I used my OEM key for a x64 install, all I needed to do was call MS and verify my install.

64-Bit I agree is faster. It also uses a bit more RAM from my experience. Also, remember osme programs will not work. I am an Engineer and SolidWorks 2008 will not work, nor will AutoCAD 2007. They do work in 64bit though

Ima 64 bit brat. I've used 64 bit os's ever since they released beta drivers for windows xp x64 for my devices. I've never looked back since. Things tend to be a bit more stable and easier to use.
As an addition: If your not using 64 bit with 4 GB's of ram your not getting the full potential of your ram. I definately reccomend 64 bit for you my friend.
