Default OEM Windows and Product Key?

Hey

I have to reinstall Windows for a customer. They have a Dell machine and of course dell only comes with restore images. The customer expressed interest in a plain XP install, no Dell bloatware. Can I just use any copy of Windows XP and punch in their product key? or must I use the Dell Recovery Image?

Any info would be great, thanks!
