Default Microsoft Update not working

Theres 10 important updates available, most of which are security updates, but microsoft update won't download 'em. At first I thought auto updates was just off but its not, the updates are just failing. If I start it manually it says downloading and sits at 0kb and 0% the whole time. Obviously something isn't right here. I tried to do a system restore to see if maybe something I did recently caused it but when windows rebooted it said the restore failed because the restore point was deleted during the restore. BS, right! Anyway if anyone knows what might be causing this I would love some help. I'm running Home Premium 32-bit sp1 installed btw. Thanks guys.

I scanned through those a bit and it looks like it should help me out but I'm really tired so I'm going to bed now. I'll try it tommorow and see if it works.

I had an issue with it when I built my last pc about 2 weeks ago. I just restarted the computer and then set the clock to the right time and then wait. It was able to update within 24 hours.
Make sure the clock (date) is right otherwise it cant update properly.

Nah I know its not that my date and time are fine. Besides it can find the updates it justs gets stuck at 0% when its supposed to be downloading them. If I check the update history the automatic updates have tried to install like 30 times and it says failed on every one except for the definition updates for windows defender all seemed to download succesfully. I checked those links and found one that seemed to address my exact problem but the fix it suggested didn't work. I have a few more things to try though I think I might be able to get to the bottom of this.
