ok, if you wanted to use windows 2k on vista home premium you would need to:
1. install a virtual machine program such as VMware workstation 2. load the win2k iso/disk ( SATA drives are not recognised by VMware ![]() 3. Once the iso/disk has been loaded and the virtual pc is turned on, you will need to install win2k just like you would if you were doing a clean install. 4. After the installation is complete and the virtual machine restarts then you will have a fully functioning version of win2k contained within a vista window with the option to switch between both with a mouse click and/or key combination. this is a basically how you get a virtual pc up and running in a vista enviroment.

VirtualPC is a virtualization software provided by MS.
All of Biskitz is correct in how to install a virtualized OS though.

Just realize that the virtualized OS only has access to emulated hardware... so don't expect to play 3D games on it.

Mmmm! Toast!

Also, check out VirtualBox; it's leaps and bounds above Virtual PC. And it does support running from a sata cdrom -- but ripping and mounting an .ISO is much faster anyway.

There is also VMWare Workstation 6.5 Beta w/ hardware acceleration so games should be playable, atleast older ones. I believe its free atm. [http://www.vmware.com/communities/co.../welcome.html]
